Football fans have accused former Manchester United star Jesse Lingard of faking a ribbon-cutting stunt that went viral.

The FC Seoul forward posted a clip on Instagram of him appearing to fire a football towards a huge structure, held up by a ribbon. The fiercely-struck ball then undoes said ribbon and two golden hands, in the style of Lingard's famous celebration, appear. The 32-year-old revealed that the clip has received more than 50 million views but fans think the whole thing was fake – with the tagged 'vertex.cgi' a bit of a giveaway.

Lingard was without a club for more than six months before moving to the Korean side earlier this year. After an injury-hit start and criticism from his manager, Lingard helped Seoul reach the end of season play-offs and it seems he is enjoying his football once more.
