Salah secured the FWA's men's award with 90 per cent of votes cast by over 900 members, after leading Liverpool to their 20th Premier League championship with one of the finest individual seasons in the history of the league. The Egyptian has already contributed an incredible 46 goals (28 goals and 18 assists), and he needs just one more to tie the all-time Premier League totals set by Andy Cole and Alan Shearer.

On the other hand, Arsenal and Lionesses star Alessia Russo was bestowed the award for the Women's Footballer of the Year, beating last year's winner Khadija Shaw to become the second Arsenal player to win the prize. The England striker has scored 12 goals and set up a further two in the Women's Super League this season, and has also helped the Gunners reach the Women's Champions League final.

This is Russo's first-ever FWA Women's Footballer of the Year award, while Salah has picked up his third, having been previously named Footballer of the Year in 2018 and 2022. The Liverpool superstar has now equalled Arsenal legend Henry for the most FWA Footballer of the Year awards.

The Egyptian's season is pretty much over now as Liverpool have already confirmed their Premier League title, but he still will be looking to get another goal contribution when they take on Arsenal.
